sumpgaurd plate and transmission axle cover
1 Attachment(s)
Ok saga goes on apart from having two bolts missing after some work done on X (i think i can replace em) I noticed that on underside under driver/passenger area as per pic that the 'lip' in yellow (one on each side) of plastic cover for transmission axle are fitted over the metal sump gaurd plate....anyone have any idea if the 'lip' in yellow should fit/slide under sump gaurd...if yes when I go tomorrow will ask the guy to get it on the ramp and put it on correctly. i will struggle to do it on the floor myself...total friggin nightmare.....:( scanned online but there are no pics of the underside of an X5 as it is on an elevated ramp, pics online show that part totally removed revealing axel....ANy input great

Looks correct. There are something like five tabs on the front of the transmission shield (I think) - three go over the reinforcement plate and two go under. Meaning you should be able to see two tabs.
Same as mine... http://i63.tinypic.com/24b67vk.jpg |
Wpoll cheers you saved me alot of time ...was gonna argue with starter man to take it off and re install so those 2 tabs become concealed by the metal sump gaurd....your pic i can clearly see the one tab and i guess in the distance other one is in same position too.
Been one hell of a struggle this starter....going back to be given my olr one tomorrow for reference purposes...thanks once again Ps your underbelly near along its width near the tabs has some sort of wing...have no idea if mine had or not...seems like something that would deflect water down? |

Thanks and you have gone out of your way again to help cheers....just wondering about that wing like black rubber along the edge...pretty sure didnt see it on mine when he removed the whole tray....guess will just have to live without it....on realoem couldnt locate the trim i referred to with the tabs on...and the yo yo lost one bolt securing it to underbody and one screw in wheelnarch that secures a flap of plastic trim to the car....just have to improvise see wot fits....ok wpoll keep ya posted on wether or not battety starts to labour. So far so good but been driving it more as we have rain...yup miracle for cyprus

bit in yellow and pretty sure it must have something to do with forcing water down and stopping it from getting into the rest of the 'belly' havent got a clue what the hell to ask for wheni walk into bmw part dept...i guess pic says it all

There is also some sound insulation on this shield, making it heavy. You can see it here - part #7. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/images/diag_37kq.png |

Mr. Wpoll you are too right, that 'wing' was an actual moulding part of underside tray, not extra wing as I called it....optical illusion of my photo!
As for screws and bits missing well not gonna lose sleep over it, besides the realoem site shows slight variation...if you see my 'screw' on bottom right photo it is not the same as the one on realoem site maybe got my wires crossed in another post you say it is an expanding rivet i am looking for, pic on bottom left is where its missing on the other side....I am just gonna try to screw in a plastic screw i have handy and put a largish washer on it...thanks again you have saved me embarrassment of going at mr.annakis today and accusing him of puting parts he took off back on wrong...so owe ya one He will be giving my old denso back.....very tempted ot put it in the dishwasher to clean (apart from solenoid) and idea if its a bad idea? |
