LWX500 TC - Rear Output Nut
 

I cannot seem to find the nut size on this....


For those who have done the job on the LWX500, anybody know which size nut is it....and for clarity, should I be seeking a thiwall (or buy myself a lathe as well)

I think I confirmed it. The NV125 is a 36mm and the 500 is a 41.
I don't have pics of them in front but methink either for the app will need to be preferably extra deep thinkwall + maybe santa will include a lathe should it need to be even thinner

The nut on my 03 4.6is tc was 40mm.

Measured by caliper ? I actually ordered a thinwall extra deep 41. Out of town till mid week. Only thing missing on funds is a lathe , LOL. I think the socket will need to be shaved thin. Hopefully thinwall is more than sufficient for clearance...


Most sets also seem to go from 38mm and the next socket up is 41mm.

Older post from someone who has actually removed and and actually sold all his tools all pointed to 41mm.

I guess this is one seal I won't touch and will regret if it leaks.

I cancelled my order for the socket.
I think even a standard polished (which is generally thin as is) will not fit in that cavity unless some serious thinning out of it. No lathe and hand and I'm not that inclined tho makeshift chuck this into a drill and hack away with a sander.

For the wiki, for anyone who should google and stumble upon this. Just short of turning a socket on a grinder to mill it down...there is a huge difference in OD. Found one PRC socket that was fat and chunkeeee and of course the $$$ german socket of the same 41MM was 6MM thinner than the latter. -- these were all non impacts as well, since impacts are already fatter than chrome--

Have you tried to make a forked wrench?

Use 2 pcs.of flat steel the width of the flats on the nut and bend into a staple shape then weld the 2 together and weld a good size nut on top for a place to wrench.

Remember to keep the legs as short as possible...

The nut sits inside flange with a tight clearance between the nut and flange - like a axle nut per se.

Heh, a stamped 41mm with a 3/4 head would be perfect. I was really sorta surprised how much a difference in OD a premium socket would be
