New poster. No start problem. Need help.
 

Ok guys really need some brainstorming and help. 2004 BMW X5 3.0i. Went to start it and it just cranks. Using a generic obd scanner I get the code p0604. Using inpa I get the code 115-tps adaptation and get code 100-steuergeraetefehler (control unit error.) tried doing throttle adaption but doesn’t help. Using pa soft I get code 73(throttle adaption conditions infringed). Took the battery out and fully charged it to 13.5 volts. Engine fail safe prog popped up while cranking. Was running fine before this. Any ideas guys? Thanks?

Sounds like the computer doesn't trust the readings for the thottle. It probably will not spark or fuel until it knows where the throttle is

Sounds like a hardware problem with the throttle position sensor.

Also after I try cranking the car if I leave it the fuel pump will continue to cycle even if you lock the door. It will run until the battery goes dead

I would disconnect battery for a minute to reset computer and try again. Read codes from throttle sensor before trying to crank. If you get no readings then check connections etc

I’ve tried several times disconnecting the battery. I have no idea why the fuel pump continues to cycle. Car is sitting at Walmart and it’s too cold to really do anything. Already over it 🙃

What I read is that the ECU failed a self check. Read the linked page.

I would remove the ECM and clean the contacts and replace, make sure you are holding 12v + trying to start, maybe have a jumper cable on the car when you attempt starting.

If the voltage drops enough during a start attempt the ECU will not send Siti nor fuel.

The fuel pump running key off is a new one to me. Are you sure it's the fuel pump?

Oh yes 100%. If I just connect the battery it doesn’t do it. If it doesn’t start the fuel pump will constantly cycle even with key off. You can get out and lock it and the fuel pump will continue to cycle. Until the battery dies. I actually pulled the dme today. I saw a little of what looked like oil in the middle connector. Took it apart and nothing on the board seemed to look burned or anything. Cleaned everything with electrical cleaner. The car has done this before. I’ve just let it sit and it will start eventually. But I can’t get it to restart.

Now I am getting code 64 in pa soft. Control unit self test error. Is my dme bad?
