Think it's just the washer pumps leaking?

The rubber grommets don't look bad to me. Noticed both pumps have blue crustiness around their seams.

The pumps do fail at the seams... but those grommets don't look pretty either. Anytime I see them silicon'd on I worry. ;)

- Get new grommets from dealer, they are cheap.

- The pumps...I use VDO, which is OEM, search rmeuropean.com or eeuroparts.com. It is about $16/each. Just replace both, they last about 100K.

- If one of the old pumps still work, save it in the glovebox as spare.

- Use realoem.com to look for PNs.

So is this the entire grommet on one of these? I don't see anything else on ecs or realoem

Yes,

That is the grommet, very cheap at dealer.
See photo for PNs.

Re: washer pump, I strongly recommend that you replace at least the FRONT pump at this age/mileage. This happened to me: pump went out in the middle of night, then someone ran through a puddle and my windshield was covered in mud. I had to stop nearby to clean my windshield glass simply b/c the washer pump failed at that moment!

So, go to rmeuropean.com and enter 67128362154, you should see a VDO pump for $15. Save the old pump in the glovebox as spare.

This is one topic has been posted over and over again. Simple solutions posted before are: purchase two aftermarket pumps motors, get the rubber gaskets with screens for all three pumps, pull the bucket out of the car after disconnecting the pumps from the washer reservoir, this will give you the room to disconnect the electrical connectors and the hose lines. Take the bucket into your sink area and clean out all the junk in the bottom. Then replace all the seals, pumps and re install. Leave the headlamp pump alone and in the car.
The pumps are high failure items as they leak internally and as mentioned the seals dry out and leak. If you follow this path your repairs will be a one stop to solve all your issues.
Note: if you are missing the filter screen little insert http://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-b...r/61661365848/ at the fill area of your reservoir, buy one now or you will have pressure leaks in the future now that you sealed all the other leaks. The fill screen allows the bucket to vent properly or you can drill a hole in the top of cap. Your car your choice.

Link to ECS to see all that are your choices on parts as you maybe missing a few items due to tech abuse and previous owner neglect. https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E53-X5...terior/Wiper/2

The grommets are a loose fit and barely seal even when new. Try putting a piece of heat shrink tubing on the pump stems.

I always found the seal to be a nice tight fit. Maybe it's an aftermarket pump or seal that is the problem.

I wrapped mine with Teflon but plan to upgrade to heat shrink tubing if the leak returns before I buy a replacement grommet.

I use BMW grommet + VDO washer pump (orig supplier, about $15).
No leak at all.
