Those cool clear headlights- Unusual sources?

Guys:

I've seen the clear Hellas out there for $3000. Anyone know where we can find HID full function (levelling, left/right, etc) for less?

There is a pair on Ebay right now for $1199 + $150 shipping. I've been watching them for awhile and thus far have been able to resist the temptation. ;)

SWEEET! Do we need a different one though for the turn in function? I forget what that's called. I read that we should get part # 63 11 7 166 815. But I don't really care ab that function. If we can use these, I am on it.

Ah, good catch. Just did a parts lookup on the 815 vs 803 driver's side headlights. The 815 has BiXenon, adaptive lights, and the clear markers. 803 has BiXenon and clear markers only. It lacks adaptive lighting... so they don't move/turn. :(

Well.. the parts *with* the adaptive are out until October. So I made an offer on these. We'll see what happens.

Beware that these also come in LHD and RHD versions.... ;)

Are you talking about these? ;)

I was fortunate to find a set locally (adaptive) for a LCI conversion i am doing on an 01 3.0i. I then ended up purchasing his 4.8is which he also had retrofitted with FXR projectors with clear lens. Stupid bright at night, great sharp cutoff, and that awesome color flicker we all love.

Lots and lots of discussion here. Short answer is no.

OK, we won't tell you that you have to remove the bumper. Doesn't change the facts though… ;)

Facelift 2004

Though I think I have found the lights I need. I do have two facelift E53's.

When was that, June? Dear Lawd, it's been a journey and it's still not over!

But with respect to the *correct* lights for the 4.8is, I will just say this...

And in the name of human interest, for the sake of sewing the thread for this story as thoroughly as possible, I feel I should also include how this major league charlie foxtrot ended up being a bit of fun.. even if it's not yet realized...

Ya see? These are not 'dynamic' HID clears. In amber lenses, they're what was on my 'new' 2004 white E53 (with the small sunroof, even!)

More to come, but the TL;DR for my quest for clears on the E53s is this: Step one, complete.

And, at least for the white one.. Step 2.. is uhhh.. well.. It's shaping up nicely.

Ohhh.. I've been lusting after clears on the E53 nearly as long as I've had them on my E39's... :D

Looks like umntiza has the euro lights ready to order and you can add in the v4 angel eye. Anyone gone this route? Does it come fully assembled?

I believe they are just clears, not dynamic. I had a buddy that ordered a set from Umnitza, tried specifying he needed dynamic...when they shipped they were the "basic" versions, and they refunded him his order.

twinspool 09-11-2019 12:23 PM

who did the headlights? I am curious to know as I am looking to do this alteration/upgrade as my next project. And although I think I have located a place by me here in the tri-state area, I'd like to see whom else I can trust with this..

thanks!

JB

I'm sure it comes fully assembled for $1900!!!!!!! Although they don't come with bulbs, ballasts, or igniters it looks like. :wow:
