2004 X5 4X4 Warning Light
Help all, I've got an X5 that I just replaced the lower oil pan, had the front end jacked up for about a week waiting for parts. All went together well. Started it up and got an immediate 4X4 warning light. Drove it for a bit, it reset once with the DSC working etc. Then it quit again. Any advice on troubleshooting would be appreciated!

Only the 4x4 light ? No abs etc? What code before you cleared?

4X4
I was told it showied no there codes. The only other possible contributor was a faulty RR Brake Pad sensor that I replaced. I'm getting an OBDII reader, more to follow.

After replacing brake pad sensor you need to reset the computer.

Thanks Andrew, what is the best method for resetting the computer?

Is the brake pad indicator light on the dash lit? Turn key to position 1 for 30 seconds before starting will clear the fault entry in RAM. The light should go out.

Got into the reset menu and now I'm getting a code SIA: 4095 1
Brake pad indicator is out, one victory! |
I just bought my own OBDII scanner and indeed no codes are present. The 4 X 4 light remains on with the DSC button inop. I believe the SIA code is related to service interval. All else on the car is clean except the 4X4 light. ????

What scanner did you buy? Most generic scanners will only read faults in the DME. Your problem may be in the ABS module which isn't being scanned.

It also looks like you have just reset this service indicator - and I'm guessing you didn't mean to do so. The reset in the SIA menu is SOLELY for resetting the SIA once you have completed an Oil Service/Inspection I/Inspection II. |
