E53 air bag light

Hey,

I replaced the driver door window regulator.

Ever since I have an air bag light.

Attempted to reset and the airbag light momentarily clears and comes back seconds later.

Took the door panel off tonight and double checked the door airbag connector.

Looked like it did when I originally put it back together. The connector fits in what appears to be normally. When originally removing the connector I noticed one side of the top locking section was missing. This could be the issue. If so where do I get a replacement connector?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Brad

How did you clear the code. And did you read the code?

You need proper tool to clear the bag faults.

Check realoem for the connector part # and do a fleabay search on the number.

Sounds like the connection was unplugged/plugged in while the battery was connected. That's a guaranteed airbag light and you must do a code reset (clear) to get rid of it.

Thanks for the replies.

I used this item to read and erase the code.

I did unplug the airbag while the battery was connected.

I didn't turn the car on though.

The error is code 5 MRS side air bag front left.

Thanks again

That scanner will clear the airbag code unless there is still a fault.

If you removed the door airbag, check to make sure that when you reinstalled the airbag you didn't pinch one of the wire.

Thanks again for all the replies.

I broke the connector. One leg is missing.

Looking for a replacement. Any suggestions?

Thanks again for everyone's help.

If the connector is inline just splice it

Hit up a wrecker for the airbag connector - probably the same connector in many different BMW models from that era.

Failing that, it's the dealer, ECS/FCP/eBay etc. for the "repair cable".
