2006 E53 DRL change to LEDs
Hi guys, i have a very nice X5 but I hate my DRL’s incandescent daytime running lights. I would love to change them to led bulbs anyone know the proper bulb size? And any info or recommendations? Thanks so much!!!

After 8 years with my E53 (pre-facelift) it went to the next owner, so no longer in Switzerland but in Finland. I replaced it with an E91 330 xd and also want to do the LED thing for my angel eyes. All of the bulbs are 12 V, you need to look at your headlight cluster to be 100% certain.
In my case it is an H8. For an angel eye, you want 120 W (effective) per bulb (60 W is a a bit dim) and those who are made to be error code free. You also (angel eye) want the "stick" part of have the small LED's all round the stick (usually at 90 or 120 degrees depending on the factory that made them) rather than left / right. |
These are on my 2006, they come with a lifetime warranty and are plug and play, if your talking about the DRL angel eyes.

OP should provide some clarity on what he needs. From the factory, E53 X5 only uses dimmed high beams as DRL (daytime running lights). The halos or angel eyes are not DRL since they have to have the light switch activated at least in the park position to be on. DRL is on with nothing more than the ignition switch.
Maybe I misunderstood when he mentioned DRL. |

Overboost gave me a great lead on better LED angel eyes on one of my posts, better than what's in my car now. I found out the DRL's I linked were installed on mine before I bought it and ECS sells as there's. |
