So got the module and pump back, module looks brand new, that’s just an opinion as I’m only seeing the black plastic outer. All fitted and coded BUT I now have a brake pressure sensor fault which is keeping the lights on although they have turned from red to amber. The Foxwell shows the pressure sensor is permanently reading 292 bar of pressure. The vehicle drives fine so that pressure is not being applied while driving. If you opened up the hydraulic lines anywhere, there is a potential the air bubbles got trapped in the ABS module. Usually to fix this, you'd have to cycle the ABS module in order to bleed the module. There is a service routine to fix this via INPA.

If all you got back is the pressure sensor issue, it could be something easy to check. Now I cannot find what model year and powertrain platform you have for your E53. This is important because there is a 38 pin connector style and a 42 pin connector style. At any rate, I'll go off of mine--which is 42 pin.

B76 is your pressure sensor. It lives on the back of the module with three wires from it to the DSC. To answer your question, it will need to sense line pressure--meaning it will have direct access to the fluid.

Thanks for the reply Rocketyman, I’ll probably do this tomorrow if it ever stops raining. From an interest point of view, if I unplugged the electrical connection an just plugged it into the replacement sensor should I in theory be able to clear the codes to prove it works and is the problem.

I'm not sure if it'll "clear the code" per se---but you should actually see that value change from the 292 bar. Right?

In theory you should see multiple values: 1. value with the faulty sensor; 2. value with connector unplugged; 3. value with new sensor

I'd be interested to see what you report back with.

Finally got round to changing the sensor. Took the plug of old sensor (left old sensor in pump) and just plugged it into replacement sensor. All lights went out. Checked pressure reading and it’s 0. Fitted replacement, lost a small amount of fluid but bled with IPNA drove 20miles and all is good.
Should mention that when I removed the old sensor I plugged that in and it still read 292bar and the three lights returned.

Sweet! There you got! I bet the old sensor probably got rusted out or something since brake fluid absorbs water.

At any rate, sounds like you fixed your issue!
