Question, and I haven’t dug in yet so I apologize if the answer is obvious but are the standard bags and sport bags interchangeable and what’s the difference?

At the very good advice of a number of fine Outpost members I am now strongly leaning towards simply replacing both rear bags with Arnotts from FCPEuro and hoping I don't ever have to use their lifetime warranty services.

As my wife said, with me now "being reasonable" about things, I think I am going to snag a pair of H&R bolt on 25mm spacers for the rear and 20s for the front and finally have my poly bushings installed to go with my B6s, H&R Springs and Eibach anti-Sway Bars.


With it only being a bag it seems reasonable to to fix it this once... sadly... but hey, I get other goodies instead :D


Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but that's where my heads at at the moment.

Just as an FYI you do know that rear bags are only about $120 a pop right? They are easy to replace too, I've done them under 1.5hr working at a slower pace.

I roll lowered on the factory bags, but im probably doing coilovers at some point. They should provide better ride quality and feel at the lowered heights.

However on stock height the bags are plush.

Yes, the group steered me right [emoji106]. My new bags from FCPEuro should be here today. When I actually realized they were only $120 per bag (lifetime warranty) and as you said took virtually no time to install... I changed my mind pretty quickly.

I think all in all I’ll be happy with the H&R springs, Eibach anti sway bars, bilstein B6s and my poly bushings with the bags. And if they give me issues again or I get really, really bored, coilovers are always still an option for the future.

I actually dug in to taking the car apart yesterday in prep for my bags to arrive today [emoji16]. Now... fingers crossed FedeX is good to their word on delivery.

I feel like I copped out sometimes by yanking the air gear out. But then I drive the truck and of course never worry about the truck sitting on the tires anymore. The system is stupid simple and easy to service mechanically. Not too expensive either, but the EHCII module lets down the entire system.

You'll get those bags in quick with no worries Purple. If the problem with mine had been just a leaky bag, I probably would have done the same as you. :thumbup:

This is the scenario I am in right now. PO replaced front left bag. I just replaced the remaining 3. All sensors have been replaced. Yet one corner feels the need to fight me and lowers itself to it's own height each day.

I've got the software to reset it but doing that everyday before work is a pita.


The 2 axle SLS was one of the main reasons I bought this truck. That and the pull out load tray, running boards and underride.


I have frequently wondered what it would take to completely redesign the 2 axle SLS controller system with a computerized setup 15 years newer. Trying to think what I could do with Raspberry Pi.

Nah, CW with the EHCII you probably did the right thing, mine is just the simple rear self leveling so I don't have nearly the complexity you did. Originally I thought that it was just time to bite the bullet and make the switch but as I really started to look at the difference in the systems and get feedback from the Outpost... it just made sense for me to replace the bags when it is such an easy and cost effective replacement. (and this is the first time it has given me a lick of trouble in nearing 9 years)

That's actually not a bad idea on the Raspberry Pi. You'd have to find someone who was familiar with the signaling, etc, for the system but similar things have been done for other systems in the car, take the "BlueBus" for example, it works with the ibus and has the capability to do a number of things within the car.

Yeah. I had actually ordered 2 of those BlueBus from Ted. One for my e38 and one for my e53. I'll have to check in with him.

That’s funny, now that you say that I actually remember your post from his thread. He, time permitting I know he’s busy, would be a great source for info for sure [emoji106]
