BMW e53 X5 Engine Mount Replacement
So I finally got around to replacing the motor mounts on my 2006 X5 with the 3.0L today. Not too bad of a job as long as you know what you're up against.
I didn't take the engine mount brackets off of the engine, I just lowered the front subframe and raised the engine a little. Also, would be a good idea to remove the mechanical fan so it doesn't hit the shroud. Hope it helps someone, there wasn't much on YouTube that I could find. And my disclaimer, I'm not a videographer, or a mechanic. https://youtu.be/njmQPmBnRMI I'm going to reference Overboost's thread below because there's some good info in there. Also linked an older engine mount thread. Link to other engine mount thread: https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...xperience.html https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...placement.html |
easier to just loosen the shroud. I never could remove the fan without the shroud at the same time so I always do together. If don't need to actually remove fan just release the shroud and let it float up with the engine.
That's great feedback. Exactly what do is for thanks for sharing. I think my wife's needs them. She gets shakes at idle in park that I don't and already replaced both CV and all front suspension. |
