If for nothing else, the comfort flash for turn signals and the ability to monitor coolant temp are awesome features. I love comfort flash.

I love that comfort flash too. Had never heard of it and after I figured out what it was and how it worked I started using it. I also like being able to easily program lights. I set up my angel eyes and fogs to run as DRL's. I also use the emergency braking set up to blink the emergency flashers when the dynamic braking lights up the upper brake light. It even lets you know it's doing it when it happens.

Honestly, I don't find the Resler that useful beyond OBC. The coding functionality is extremely limited, much worse than even the badly crippled options in Carly. I'm still going to have to break out the laptop.

Was it worth it for OBC? Yeah, I like having it.

Does it actually monitor anything actually useful? No, not really. The stock coolant temp gauge tells you what you need to know, oil temp doesn't work, and it doesn't monitor oil pressure.

And oil pressure is the thing you actually want if you care about your engine. (Fun fact: My oil pressure gauge saved my S50B32 from a bad oil pump post rebuild.)

I have NCS for coding, ISTA+ for diagnostics, and I thought you could get coolant temp and a few other readings from Torque (could be wrong - been awhile since I used it). Haven't heard of comfort flash - unless that just means coding it to flash 3 times for a single activation (NCS codes this).

I think I'm going to skip buying the Resler setup for now. It's another $100ish that would only add to my over-expenditure on a decent Android unit for the beast. I can always add it later if I become convinced of its worth.

Yep, other options exist for all but the DSP and OBC functions. But the convenience of the Ibus is great.

I use it for fuel tank and on the fly voltage as well. It's pretty useful. Unless coded, the dummy gauge on the dash for coolant temp is a recipe for disaster. But we all have a cost/benefit calculations, so understand not wanting to spend more.

I didn't realize it was $100. I paid much less than that, but I ordered directly. Looking up the prices for the hardware and the license (without DSP) looks like they can both be had for ~$55 now. Will be the best $55 you've spent on your E53.

Where can I get that price? It would be about $92 after converting to Euros from this site:https://shop.ibus-app.de/en/shop/acc...le-incl.-cable .

E23.99 Hardwarre - https://modbmw.com/shop/ibus-interface/

E22.00 License - https://shop.ibus-app.de/en/shop/lic...pp-obc-license

*I did not check for any shipping costs on the hardware...

Thanks, man! That's a MUCH more tolerable price.

No problem. Totally understand the mental affect of an ~$50 difference in price. I am researching buying an ICOM Next package for all my Bimmers and am going through the same struggle with all the different sellers hocking these ICOM clones. So I get it. :D My head is hurting deciding to go w/ software package vs without vs HDD vs SSD.

I just noticed we have very similar E70 35d's also. Mine's an 03/10 build 2010, so it has CIC which was the main reason I was originally only considering LCI's. I was thrilled to stumble upon this late build pre-LCI and learn that BMW started putting CIC into the later build 2010's. I'm really liking the E70 AND the diesel engine a lot. Man did they change a LOT from the E53!
