Renting a car is THE answer, didn't think of it before upallnight's suggestion, definitely less risk to the X5, but thinking it through I'm a little concerned about Covid risks, renting the car, getting from the rental office, will give one of them a call and see how they're handling things now.

Heard that! I’d grab myself a couple of cans of Lysol disinfectant spray and spray and wipe everything down (twice) no matter what they said they did [emoji106]

I did a cross country drive a few weeks ago. I brought some 90% alcohol spray to use at the hotel where we stayed. One night each way. It takes < 5 min. To sanitize hard surfaces. I was traveling with a 78 yr old so i sprayed every hard surface.

Also: UV kills the bug. If the car is outside in the sun, heat over 135F will also "kill" it (quotes because technically not alive, why it needs a host to replicate). If the car is in the sun more than a couple hours south of about 46° latitude, it'll be SARS-Cov-2 free (a car cannot catch or transmit COVID-19)

That’s actually a good idea - heck, I’d rent myself something badass and enjoy the heck out of the drive down. Would definitely be less costly than shipping and would also avoid any unintentional damage potential to the X. I mean... shit does happen, that’s why we made the bumper sticker...

I thought Forest Gump came up with that.
