I'd consider Bilstein B4 struts and shocks (black color, OEM).
They can be had for under $500 and IMO Bilstein is the best overall quality.
I have yellow B6 HD ones on my 4.6is and they're great but in your case B4 is the way to go since you need softer ones.
I'd take your commute over what I do for living:

You’ll blow out the control arm bushings early, but they are a standard wear item.

Replace all your bushings with poly. They come with a lifetime warranty and with the thrashing you're giving them the poly bushings will hold up much better than stock.

True. But they will give a harsher ride.

I have them in mine. The ride is a little harsher, but not significantly so. It's worth not having to replace bushings to me.

Something else to consider, they may also require additional lubrication from time to time as they will collect debris from the road and with them being able to move in their “housing” they may squeak more than rubber... but they will last darn near forever.

Hi all


Thanks to the encouragement, I decided to drop some serious CDN Pesos on the B4's.


Does anyone know of a vendor who offers a complete bushing kit?


I have already done the rear sub-frame bushings, but suspect that rear diff mounts and front sub-frames are on the way out. Drawback is finding reasonable mechanic in my area. I had 2 quotes for well over $1k just to re & re the rear subframe bushings, a job I did in 2 hours in my driveway. :rolleyes:



Now that I have the tool for that, I have considered offering a mobile re & re service so others aren't getting so royally screwd.
