Anything more?

I’m adding heated rear seats the the X because they didn’t come factory, was curious if there was anything else that could be added

Where did you find the donor seats with the heating element in it? Or did you reupholster the seats with it in?

Went to my local Pic-n-Pull. They’re having a sale on seats. $15 a seat. $19 for the rear set up.

Found a link on here showing where the wires are tucked under the front driver seat. All factory plug and play. I hope.

You will need the switches that are in the vent panel at the rear of the console.

Has anyone ever seen heated rear seats in hell beige? All the ones I ever see for sale are black or gray. :dunno:

andrewwynn 12-22-2020 09:41 PM

Rear seat had a recline option and back had a sliding floor option

One feature my X doesn't have. I would retrofit in a second if I could actually find a set of hell beige heated rear seats. I have looked off and on for a couple of years but always find black and gray colors.

My 2021 new years resolution even though nobody ever sits back there. :strut:

I wonder how many X came without the rear recline seat option. Our 05 3.0i has it, I always thought it was pretty standard.

Maybe you can look into adding some aftermarket sound dampening to further quiet the interior road noise?

Consider carefully. I have two X5's one with sliding floor, one without. While I do use the sliding floor from time to time. I prefer the one without.

-You lose an inch or two of vertical with sliding floor*
- The sliding floor is as heavy as a mo-fo..when you need to lift it up or out for battery service, spare tire, access to electronics

*I share a 20 gallon air compressor (horizontal tank on wheels) with a buddy to blow out sprinklers. It fits in the X5 without sliding rear and does not fit in the x5 with the sliding rear.

That is something to think about. Thanks!

Have you considered dying/painting the leather?

I have seen some very good results with the kits from leatherxkits.com although haven't personally used it yet.

They offer all the factory color options so you should be able to match to your existing interior.

I think finding the reclining rear seats AND in the color you want will be a waiting game so for a couple hundred bucks you can sort of address your resolution while you wait for the real deal.

Overboost 12-23-2020 01:37 PM

Nobody rides back there anymore, kids are grown and moved out so I will just wait until the right set pops up. More of an OCD thing, not worth a compromised set of seats to have something right now.

There is always something you want when you don't have it. Same with rear footwell lights. Pre wired just like the heated seats but my model left them out for whatever reason.

Have a look at their pictures, I don't think the word "compromised" would apply, but what do I know.

Curious, the rear footwell lights you're talking about are the ones mounted on the door or the bottom of the rear seats? Are they blanks? or just no bulb in there?

I think these came factory on the earlier models with premium package. Maybe someone knows the details but I have always wanted to do this mod.

Swampy has those lights (As well as the DVD player that can't shut the lid flush) and there's nothing premium about that vehicle.

Do you just have carpeting over where the cutout for the lights would be?

I thought the opposite - that reclining rare seats are a rare option. Hardly ever see them... :dunno:

I've only seen them as an option in a local sales ad once, and then watchJRgo was the second time.

Yep, just carpet like the link I attached.

Ahh I see it now, I didn't click on the link just looked at the pic.

It's nice of BMW to have the carpet ready to cut out.

Next time I go to the pic n pull yard I'll keep an eye out for them. Last time I was there I snagged a couple of those light covers that swampy was missing.

I figured all these fancy 5s came with lights everywhere, didn't realize it was an option.

Purplefade 12-23-2020 04:54 PM

Mine must be a unicorn then LoL, I have the reclining, unheated unfortunately, rear seats and the little lights you guys are talking about, but the simple hi-fi radio with no NAV and no changer or other options... I did also end up with the heated steering wheel though, whoever ordered mine was a strange dude..., winter package, heated wheel and smokers package though the car was never smoked in and never saw snow before I bought it :dunno:

Would LOVE to find a set of rear heated seats, that would just make me happy for no apparent reason, but it would :D

Clockwork 12-23-2020 09:53 PM

I have only ever seen The recline 8n 4.8iS models. I didn't even know the other trims got that option. I'd like to have it, for sure. I wish.

What does hell beige look like? Is it more beige or less beige, then beige? Beige seats show fairly often here in Washington. I could look when I go to the junkyards and let you know.

Sorry guys, hell beige is the color of my E46 interior, sand beige is the color of the X interior. Not sure what the differences are though :dunno:

My '06 has reclining nappa beige rears. Wife's '13 diesel has nappa but no recline. It's a nice feature and we wish the E70 had it. :dunno: First world problems I know.

There's a guy in PA that had one a couple months ago. I think he's on this forum but he had it advertised on the Facebook E53 group I think. Let me know if still interested and I'll connect you two. Not sure he wants to ship though. Are you in Washington State or DC? If DC he may not be too far.

Sliding cargo floor takes so much room,I had it for a couple of months and threw away.
Reclining seats are nice! Real nice in fact.

I copy that too, I was able to fit a range(stove here in Canada) into the trunk with no slider and I couldn't do that with it installed. I brought a standing freezer in the trunk with a slider installed, had no choice at that moment, and dented the headliner, while the same freezer fits alright with no slider....an inch is a lot of room taken away with a dubious benefit of maybe once in a while using sliding floor.

plasstik 12-28-2020 12:14 AM

Ok, no slider for me.
