It's with a sad heart I announce the parting of ways between myself and what might be the current highest mileage E53 on xoutpost :(



Alas, at 388,801 miles on January 24th of 2021, reverse gear disappeared from my GM 5L40-e transmission without a trace of noise, mechanical action or change in engine RPM. All I did was try to back out of a parking space after starting the engine and got zip, zero, nada......


As I observed the deepening crack in the leather of the driver's seat, I said thank you and take a rest and proceeded to find my next X5, a lovely sapphire black 2016 F15 x35i with the luxury trim package :D


And as a bonus, I found a buyer for the 2002 E53 :thumbup: I think he's excited to get the OEM hitch and wiring harness, rust free body and the roof rail cross bars.

damn. If I put that many miles on my E53 I would keep it forever. Nice F15 but I think you might find the E53 is the better car;)

388k! That is 625,714 kms!!! Could this be E53 record? Joined F15 club 10 days ago. Must be the water.

I definitely prefer the E53 steering feel on the highway and like its center console lid more than the clamshell on the F15, but the F15 is delivering 20% better fuel mileage :wow:

I've been watching the F15 forum for some time now and have been pleased with the lack of issues owners have had with them compared to the F70 model, so we'll see what happens. Felt lucky to get another Texas only vehicle though with all service performed at a local dealership.

We will miss you over here Steve. Make sure to check in from time to time and let us know how the new F15 is doing. She looks fine! :thumbup:
