For the rear air springs you'll definitely have to bring it to the dealer for lowering via DIS.

Most dealers are apprehensive in doing this but if you bring a print out of the lowering instruction via DIS and tell them that they just try it and if doesn't work that you'll be okay and still pay them I'm sure they'll do it.

I'm just lucky in having a dealer (Otto's BMW) who runs it's own race team, hence the flexibility and willingness to do performance related mods on customer vehicles...

Ok so do you have the instructions i can bring them on how to do it?? I know you have it share it with the world my man.

I've talked to a few dealers and they will not lower it VIA the DIS due to common air suspension malfunctions on our X5's.
HOWEVER, I have worked with a local BMW performance shop in developing a part that will allow us to lower the air suspension. I've been testing it since July and will finish the final details in the next week or so.
Expect a post/thread with more information shortly...

Here's a teaser picture of my 4.8is lowered VIA my part.

BadAss!!! Keep us informed. Is it to do with keeping the airbags at a lower psi or an actual suspension mod?

The system adjusts the pressure of the airbags while retaining the stock functionality of the system (including the 3-way dash switch if applicable). Also it involves no permanent mod's to the system (my primary goal since the system is so flawed with bugs from the factory).
Also the system also will allow you to run higher then stock settings if desired (off-roading). The only limits for the system is the limits of the factory parts.

The picture shown is the LOWEST possible setting you can have on the air system without causing sensor issues with the factory computer. Also that picture was taken on the "low mode" on the dash switch. The normal ride height is slightly higher since the "low mode" is too bumpy because its resting on the bump-stops.

Here's some pictures that show the 3 new height settings (using the factory dash switch).
