Lowering

Hey for you guys that lowered your X's what brand springs did you use? I have an 05 4.4 sport and know i have to go to the dealership for the DIS rear air suspension lowering but will they do aftermarket springs also?? How low should i make the rear of the car the same rate as the front? Thanks for all the help when lowering im really not to sure.

very unlikely that the dealer will install aftermarket springs on your car, there might be one or two but generally not too common for them to install any aftermarket products on your car.

well mines not a 4.4 therefore i don't have the rear air suspension but i did get the eibachs for mine, ride is as smooth as stock, corners better obviously, well worth the mod money i'd say

how much is the drop with eibachs?

Eibach states 1.2 inches

I previously had the H&R springs and it dropped the front end by at least 1.5" (looked really good and improved handling!) but felt the ride was too bumpy.

I then switched to Eibach's with a drop of 1.2" and drop the rear via DIS the ride was closer to stock. Handling isn't the same as H&R but definitely improved from stock.

I can't wait I also got the rogue engineering camber plates. I just have to find a dealer willing to drop the rear.

Tks for the insight.

Check with your local BMWCCA chapter and ask for recommended independent BMW shops... You can always have stuffs installed there at a cheaper labor rate than what dealers charge per hour.

well I have a guy for the springs and camber plates as well as the alignment I just need the back dropped. I'll take your advise and check some of the independent shops.
