Should i buy the module pictured below then download the ibus app? Is the second link the same thing?

Yes, the modules are the same thing, just different manufacturers. I bought my interface from the original source back in the day (Resler) and then my registration/license from the IBUS App Shop. That modBMW one is probably a clone, but I imagine works just as well as the more expensive one.

I'd just buy it all from AVIN. I've had some sort of Android radio in my X5 for nearly 10yrs. I have them in other cars too. The cheap/low end units will frustrate you due to their slow speeds. The AVIN is also the most OE looking unit. Worth the $200-300 more

The Avin is certainly a good unit. But they are the same thing as the "cheap" Android units if you get the right versions. Meaning get one with an 8 core CPU, 4GB RAM, and at least 32GB internal storage. My no name brand unit even came with an AVIN folder and files in it.

For convenience, most definitely order from Avin. I've done so a few times and Tommy was always helpful, including RMA'ing an Avin 2 for warranty wi fi issues. I wouldn't expect any kind of help from the Ebay company I bought my $350 unit from.

Alright, you guys convinced me to get the better unit with the right processor and RAM, ill compare with the AVIN. I appreciate the feedback. I'll report back once I get everything in and installed. I need to get the fuel pump fixed first now :(

That AVIN folder usually stands for Audio/Video In, not AVIN the company.

I've yet to see another aftermarket unit have the correct removable bezel and front panel without a bunch of extra slots like the AVIN. In the E53, I've had a no name Android unit, a Joying, and an Xtrons. I went with AVIN this time mainly due to the way the bezel looks and price wise it was comparable to an Xtrons.

I finally picked up a head unit. I opted for the cheaper unit from eBay, but Octa-core processor, 4GB ram, 64GB storage, Android 11 and the bigger monitor. It was about $269 with all the cables and e53 mounting kit. It's pretty nice so far. I have it connected and mounted but not screwed in yet since i want to run my sub. So here are my questions:

1) The connector that went to my business CD player. Do I need to do anything with that connector?

2) I have an old RF Punch 300 I'm going to power the sub with. Where are you guys mounting your amp? I'd like it to be out of sight but there's not much room in the spare tire area. And I keep that left cubby full of travel essentials.

3) That little ibus adapter mentioned before, is that solely for the steering wheel controls? Or nav as well? Does it connect to the USB plug on my HU or the Key1 and Key2 wires?

4) And what is the small Can-Bus box that came with my new HU for?

The CAN-Bus adapter that come with the HU is for the steering wheel controls only.

The Resler interface (in conjunction with the iBus app) gives you access to all the On-Board Computer functions, MPG, setting the clock etc. - and MUCH more.

The Resler interface plugs into the USB socket on the HU and then is wired into the i-bus cabling at a convenient location.

Ok good deal. I'll go ahead and order the Resler device too. For some reason my steering wheel controls arent working. I need to figure that out. Also my navigation has no maps uploaded it seems (no roads show).
