Which Adapters/Harness for Aftermarket Head Unit
1 Attachment(s)
I have an Alpine INE-W927HD and a fitted JBL sub in the RR compartment but the HU kit I bought doesn't come with the correct adapter harness. I have an 06 e53 without DSP and with the business cd player.
Which harnesses and adapters do i need? Id like to retain the steering wheel controls and time, mpg, etc features. Looks like the ASWC-1? What else? |
You're going to lose all of the board computer functions with the aftermarket radio. That's clock, mpg, speed/distances, etc. They'll still be in your cluster but you won't be able to reset or rearrange them. You need an android based radio, or to relocate the MID, if you want to retain that stuff

Hmm well thats no good. That's probably why I couldn't find much info on it. But I guess i can use this HU in my Avalanche. I'll research ideas on relocating the MIL, if too involved, I'll just get an Android.
Which adapter harness do I need for either? |
Just get an Android unit. That Alpine will be great in your Avalanche.

Will do. I'll order now. Something like this?
My harness on the car side has smaler pins, that's the reason i ask about the harness. Looks like this one also has the larger pins like my e36 had. |

Yes! I need the ISO port-1 for sure. The adapter that came with my kit has the older style. I will do some searching and report back. Thank you!

I put a Kenwood in my 02, non-DSP, no nav E53. Crutchfield walked the dog for me…what fit, harnesses, including the one that allows for steering wheel controls, and decent instructions. You are probably more astute with electronics stuff than I am, but it was the easy-button for me.

I hate to spend more money but after some research, looks like a better unit is worth the hassle. Looks like something like this is plug and play for my car.
@Henn28, ddid you retain thee steering wheel functions and time, date,, etc ssettings on the MIL? Which harnesses and adapters did you use? |
