Driver Heated seat SMOKING, how to disconnect?
Hey guys,
so my driver seat is burning hot when heater is on, on the left side of the seat. It also stated smoking before I turned it off! Can anyone tell me which wires are responsible for turning the heated mat on, on the yellow wire harness underneath the seat? I tried disconnecting the two pin wire in the middle center of the seat, but that did not prevent the heater from turning on and starting to burn again. I wanna simply disconnect the heater's wires to prevent any fires in the future. Also is there a fuse that i can just remove and not have heated seats? Much appreciated, thanks! P.S. I CANN'T BELIEVE this just happened, and that im dealing with a sh*t like that. I was just in the process of changing 2 windows regulators for the 3rd time and this happened. |
IIRC, there should be a connector (or maybe 2) that are black not yellow harness.
Try looking under the back of the seat. |
I would want to pull the fuse.

Fuses F37 and F53 are for center console switching centre regarding seat heating. But these might also influence other functions on the console.

My driver seat also gets super-hot on the left side, but not smoking! I turn it off when it gets hot. Maybe the heating wires all shifted over or something, because the right side barely gets warm and the seatback heat doesn't work at all (broken wire probably unless the seatback and butt cushion have separate power source?)
At least the heated steering wheel still works... it was –4C this morning. |
If you have a hot spot it's likely that one of the hog rings has rubbed through to the heating element. The back is a seperate pad from the seat.
