Welcome to the board. Did you try a normal OBDII scanner? What type of scanner are you using?
Did you check all the fuses first? Do you have a digital voltmeter?

If you are not connecting to the modules there is probably something wrong with your diagnostic connector. Maybe you are using the wrong one or the pin arrangement is wrong. There are lots of threads about this.

I am using the D-can cable which i have used on all my E cars 46/60/90/53. when i connect it to the car with INPA I receive the ignition and battery connected confirmation.

STILL NOT STARTING

Good day community after scanning all the fuses there is no sign of a bad fuse all the fuses are functioning as they should.

ALSO WHILE TESTING THE FUSES I TAAKE DOWN THE FUSE BOX AND ALL THE LIGHTS ARE NOW GONE FROM THE CAR. ROOF LIGHTS,DASH LIGHTS WIPERS NOT WORKING TAILGATE LOCK NO LONGER WORKS.

WHEN I PRESSED THE HAZARD LIGHT SWICTH LIGHTS ARE ON ON THE OUTSIDE BUT NOTHING IN THE DASH BOARD

If there are any other suggestion I would greatly appreciate it .

I will be doing the Following to trouble shoot the issue

1. change steering column.

2. change starter and crank sensor

3. Do a ECU/EWS/KEY Swap.

I will Keep the community updated.

Seems you have an electrical issue. Unplug all the electrical connections. Spray special electrical deoxidizer in all connections. Use your voltmeter to check power and grounds. I wouldn't replace parts until checking power and grounds. Get the Bentley manual from a recent post. It has all the wiring diagrams you need.

Are you (the OP) sure that you've got the right cable for your X5? You stated that INPA gives you "ignition and battery connected confirmation", but what else does it give you? You also state that you are using a D-can cable, but are you sure it's not a switchable K+D-can cable? My '01 X5 uses only K-can, so I bought an OHP K-Line OBD2 to USB Cable | INPA ISTA Rheingold Adapter NCS Expert | Programming BMWs 1996-2007 | Windows Only https://www.amazon.com/sspa/click?ie...hdGY%26psc%3D1 to use with INPA on my Windows 11 laptop,

along with another app OBDwiz for Windows https://www.scantool.net/scantool/do...BDwizSetup.exe

According to this table I found online, your '06 X5 should be using a K-line cable, since D-line only came into use in 03/2007.

P.S. Get a Foxwell NT510 (or 520, or 530) series scantool, or a NT710, as a surefire way to get a quick look at your modules and their faults. A Foxwell BMW-specific diagnostic tool is good for a quick look (after buying the BMW-MINI-Rolls Royce software package, of course), and you'll always have the right interface for your OBD port that way.
