Hello to all well seeing how flimsy some parts on the x5 are this was a matter of time (see attached pic) mine dropped off but the 2 black rubber pads so to speak on top of the touch sensors didnt...and i also kept the part that fell off the part you press to open the trunk, and conjured up a fix albeit temp wondering if anyone else has done so? and how long it lasted?

Those 2 black bumps are micro switches. A land rover latch cover is cheaper and is almost 100% the same fit...

right not sure you can make it out in photo, but i used contact adhesive to glue a cut out piece of an old moped inner tube on top of the part that fell out ......just curious if anyone else did a fix like this......alas not able to sure good used part and not will to fork out upwards of 200 euros now for the whole trunk grip handle....

thanks for the tip, yes the 2 'bumps' I had to pop em out just in case as was worried driving around without the missing plastic part that pushes them in place they would drop out.....the land rover latch cover near same fit interesting and after scanning realoem cannot make heads of tails of what part is actually sold the whole unit or just one part....part 29 is greyed out and on my car it is not as per pic it is part of the whole unit that houses the reg number lights too....

When mine tore and water got in and shorted the button I just ended up removing the rubber cover and that worked fine for years. If the rubber stays sealed and keeps the water out no reason that won't work.

Good man thanks, not sure how you mean removing the rubber cover (like my cover that dropped off) and leaving it off worked, as wouldn't water get in? anyhow point taken have sealed it up ok i believe....and planning to get a liquid rubber glue to smear around edges of the patch i glues in place , just in case...

Water sheds off. Like visor. When I had a crack in mine water some how wicked in. Pulled off the rubber and while looking into replacing the problem never came back I never replaced the rubber button cover over about two years through Midwest winters etc.

Mine was torn and functioning off and on. I ordered two from:
https://www.roverparts.com/body-chas...ts/fuh000030g/

Part number: FUH000030

The replacement works great. I have a spare for later. My review is there too.

Dear x5chemist thanks , I take it that the land rover part in your note plugs the whole where the existing bit on the x5 fell out, and is in the the form of a grommet type part? and goes straight in for a snug fit and no other changes needed to it? on the but that fell out the X5 on the rear there is some raised solid plastic fins i guess to stop the button from being pressed in to far.....does this land rover part have a raised surface to rear?
