Where do wires go?
 

We have lots of great resources.
For options and to decode a vin, we use mdecoder
For part numbers and where they are, we have realeom
For wiring diagrams and pinouts, we have newtis, bmwteka etc.

Do we have anywhere the path of the wires, and how they're routed throughout the vehicle? The actual path of a specific wire???

Now that would be very resourceful.

Realoem.com and a Bentley manual are as close as I've found for wire body routing. The main body harnesses are along the inside right side.

I'm trying to find routing and connection for the heated seats feature. Not good at reading skematics.

Mine with a cold package is wired for heated seats. However, the seat is not wired. I'm not sure if a pigtails is there for a button.

I was looking for the wire from lcm to license plate light
Found it on the right side of the floor
Will finally fix the lp light. The wire was missing between the trunk and b pillar lol

redrawn wiring diagrams (with wire colors) for early E53's
 

I don't like the normally available wiring diagrams from the sources listed above, and I'm always searching for easier to read diagrams online. I like my diagrams drawn like the ones I had in the giant '72 Buick Service Manual I was given while training in '71 at the GM Service Technical College; the wiring diagrams were clearly drawn, with actual colors shown for the wires. I used that manual for many cars I worked on (including my '66 A-boy Chevelle), until my wife threw it away when we demolished our house.

I've downloaded many different E53 tech manuals, TSB's, drawings, etc from the internet (but none with good wiring diagrams/schematics), but I just found a good one for 2002 E53's, that I like, because it doesn't have other models (like E70's or facelifted E53's) interspersed among the drawings. I checked the source and the PDF download (220 pages, 19.4 MB) for viruses using VirusTotal and Bitdefender, and they showed "clean". Now I have easy-to-read color wiring diagrams for my '01 E53 (though the PDF's are for an '02, same for all first-gens).

For me the problem is not the wire colors, because newtis has all the wires coded. Yes the wires are not colored on the diagram, but it still says with letters what color they are.
But if you have a cool manual you like, please post it so others can try it as well :)

Another thing I was wondering. Can you identify a wire by its color?
Like, how many times does the color combination repeat?
For example if I undo the main loom of wires under the carpet on the right side, is there a way to seach wires by color? That'd be cool, put in the wire color, and it tells ypu where that wire goes.
