I want to gather peoples opinions on what I should do, any good aux cables that aren't stupidly expensive or should I just stick to my crackly Bluetooth adapter, or is the price really worth it?

I think 4 and 5 use a different type of pin style which wont work on my radio unit (non navigation DSP)

I dont drive the X5 now but I can tell you what I did in 2010. I bought the part from a BMW dealer (I dont remember how much it was) then I had Best Buy install it (150-200) I think it was. I prefer that over bluetooth because you save phone battery doing so, but downside is that whatever you use you need to charge it. I had the non navigation DSP system.

I can't remember if I sold the aux cables or what...
Ill look around if you want them (no cost) and send all that stuff to you, if you want it...mics, aux, dongles those little BT connectors things.
Don't think I have any written directions.
But just let me know... stuff is packed away somewhere,,,,I think!

I also have the Non Navi DSP system, I think AUX is a better choice because its integrated in the system, I prefer an original experience. Not to mention AUX should sound better in theory because its wired

I appreciate the offer a lot but I think you're better off giving it to a bigger E53 enthusiast I'm fine with whatever I receive from Amazon, the friendliness of the X5 community is one of the reasons why I love my E53, Thank You.

I'm a little late to the game but if you can get your hands on an OE 3 wire harness, I'd recommend it. I have one I use for my e53 and Business CD (non-Nav) DSP stereo just to connect my XM satellite radio controller.
I have also found from a pick-n-pull yard an OE 3 wire harness from an e46 and even tho it has a different part number FOR this wire, it's the EXACT SAME wire harness for e53 (and maybe E39 or e38). The ONLY DIFFERENCE is the metal pins are installed in different spots on the plastic connector which you can easily take apart and swap positions around for. I just did this myself as I installed some 3000 ohm resistors inline to replace the OE resistor which sometimes gives out making the Wire act "dead" as the stereo then thinks there is NO Aux cable installed therefore doesn't show the AUX option on Radio display. It's a bit common and a topic you can search on this forum (search AUX missing). https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1717d0a36b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...69e124ebc9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ac0905e9d5.jpg
