Thoughts on AUX cables?
I've been recently wanting to install the AUX cable on my E53, only problem is that they dont make them anymore and the genuine BMW ones go for $80-$100 I have found some aftermarket ones but not sure if they are good quality or will even fit.
I want to gather peoples opinions on what I should do, any good aux cables that aren't stupidly expensive or should I just stick to my crackly Bluetooth adapter, or is the price really worth it? Product 1: https://www.ebay.com/itm/16538285018...df7542f8908679 Product 2: https://www.amazon.com/CHELINK-Auxil...0Mini%20Cooper Product 3: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PB18L6N...4X2ZMXD40DNZN9 Product 4: https://www.ebay.com/itm/39593393279...ext=US%20%2415 Product 5: https://racegerman.com/products/aux-...3%20pin%20plug I think 4 and 5 use a different type of pin style which wont work on my radio unit (non navigation DSP) |
I've installed 1 and 2 in the past...2 I enjoyed. But I finally went Bluetooth and haven't looked back since...using good ole

Do you have a business CD? Mine has this one installed Works great for my XM Bluetooth transmitter. Way better than the radio XM frequency module. The previous version didn't have a microphone. The mic works okay for phone calls. It's plugged in between the CD and console module.

I installed Bluebus in my X5. Straight forward installation and works with steering wheel buttons.

also this might be off topic but does anyone know what this cable is? came with the car i think its some type of BMW dealer installed wire for older Iphones hence the 30 pin to lightning adaptor but what could this possibly be for? it does not charge my phone and i cant seem to connect any audio to it. |
The pic is an iPhone connector. Maybe it needs an app? Does it work when pressed?
Yes, the plug in uses AUX for Bluetooth. The CD continues to work too. Unfortunately, only sound level works on the steering wheel. On a Business CD, a blue wiring harness cover needs to be removed. Here is my installation. Bluetooth music by my XM module or phone works great. |
Ill just fiddle around with the wire and see whats up, its probably not connected or the adaptor is broken.
Ill consider that Bluetooth/AUX connector it seems pretty cool. Thank You |
