£187.00?! Welcome to the UK!

Man, for all you guys in the US, appreciate your stlr no matter how bad they are..I just took my X in for its first oil change/service, (by the way, even on US Spec X's in the UK, warranties do not cover maintenance), and I asked them to install my inlet grills. No waiting room, no loaners(not an option here, only rental cars.. :wtf:) and two hours later, I get called to the desk to pay for a bill worth £187!! By the way, thats $327.00!! I cant wait to get back...

And for all the UK drivers who are "used" to this treatment, there's gotta be a petition or something that can get these people to wake up...I thought I was starring in a f*%#in episode of candid camera!

My RR Sport test drive next month is looking a little more promising...:damn:

B: Musta been the special UK oil change? :wtf:

For that kinda dough, it's a simple DIY or, the local oil change joint...
Jeesshhh. Maybe it was the complex inlet grill install?!

Don't get me started....
I took my X in to repair a faulty boot lock recently (it kept popping open whilst driving). Despite me telling them what the fault was they persisted in charging a diagnostic fee to figure out the problem themselves.
They spent an hour on my vehicle which they charge at £95 per hour + VAT, this is daylight robbery !!!
During all this they phoned me up to tell me my rear wheels needed replacing (which they definitely don't) and that would cost £450+VAT. I refused and gave him some stick for a blatant attempt to rip me off.

After all this the problem is still not fixed (they replaced the boot lock and not the boot lock lifter/opener as well). It will cost me less to buy the part and do it myself as opposed to claiming through my third party extended warranty (another story...grrrrr!)

Man I hate UK stealers!! :gun:

I can only say it must be the dealer. from my experience with our Local BMW dealership.

1. they will pick up our car from home leaving a loaner.

2. Lovely waiting romm with yummy biscuits and coffee.

3. A flat above the Garage should we be coming from one of the Islands they put you up free of charge I may add.

4. Our dealer weekly tops up washer fluid and oil if I was to ask all free of charge.

5. How after staying in the UK can you want to go back to the USA.

Well, mine will be due its "first" service soon (well not its first, but the first since I've had it).
Its going to be an expensive one - inspection 2.
And I know the front brakes will need doing.
I'm expecting it will cost me close to £750, if not more.

Once its out of warranty, I'll be doing most of the maint myself....but will still get the dealer to service it to keep the service book up to date.

I can get a loaner from my dealer OK, but you have to book in advance.

Only one green light to go....better talk to the bank manager....:tsk:

Just had mine done at a cost of £380.00

It's now back in for the 2nd time for the same fault. When i put my rear heated screen on with the radio on i get terrible interference on the radio, while it was in for a service they decided it was the radio amp at fault & replaced that, i picked the car up at 5.00pm (this was the back end of last week) to find out it had the same problem, even though it was supposedly fixed (do they actually test once it has been so called repair?)

So it went in again yesterday, this time they say it needs a new rear window, it should have been ready today, but got a call saying it's now (hopefully) tomorrow.

Because of the inconvenience they are letting me have some titanium grills cheaper than normal, saying that they only quoted me £38.20+vat each anyway, a damn site cheaper than those rip off merchants on ebay that state they are "rare" & cost over £300.00 ***holes, i hate people that quote a ****shit price just to raise the selling price:mad:

Actually, I take that one back...I would stay here forever if I could, but Mr. Bush wont let me, unfortunately.... :bawling:

But if Im going to be here for another two years with no maintanence warranty, the RR Sport is quickly becoming a viable option within the next year or so...Once the '07 X rears its head, I'll be able to make a quick decision...

Fiona, is this Menzies? Or your Inverness dealer? 'Cos Dunedin want to charge £3.95 per litre for washer fluid. And £4.95 per litre for oil. Told them to mix the two together and drink it! I'm not paying those prices.

Terry, is that £187 for the service and fitting the grills or just to fit the grills?

nope not Menzies it's Calterdon who we get on fine with.

Never asked them top up washer fluid they started it one time I was in and I just thought right so I've just kept going in and they keep topping up.

Maybe they don't like to say anything to me. They even top up the minis' and 1'er and I bought those from menzies.
