I know this has no bearing on the X5, but alot of the E46 M3 Roadfly guys has had good results in horsepower increases and freer revs with their AFE intakes. They did have some rough idle and stumbling idle issues when the AFE intake was first released but it has all been fixed.
The AFE intake for the 4.4i doesn't really look any different from the Dinan stuff and even the Dinan stuff doesn't really add much HP/TORQUE except for maybe the higher end. The question is who is going to be the first guinea pig? I'll talk to Brad or Simon at Evosport and see if anyone else has tried it. BTW, who is going to Bimmerfest this weekend? Quote:

I'll be a guinea pig, but I'll get it in summer, after my exhaust, or after I retro fit my Xenons. :)

I wanted to go to B'Fest but I've got too much other stuff to do with my move, etc. Have fun! |
Brad states they had some problems with check engine light on the AFE intake for the E46 M3 when they first came out, but AFE is a good company and made good in fixing the problem. Now, the E46 M3 RF crowd is particular about mods and all of them who got the AFE intake are quite happy!!
Maybe I'll buy it first and then sell it to you! Brad himself has a X3 3.0i and an E39 540i in addition to his racing M3s.
