Fan Running
Hey guys... Today my wife came home from lunch today parked in the Garage.. I happen to go out there and here the radiator fan on... It stay on for about 1.5 min... I got the key turned to the on position and the temp gage was normal straight up... So i started the vehicle and turned it off and it stopped.. So I drove the vehicle the rest of the day and it never happened again... Any Ideas... How long would it have stayed on before it cut off.. U think it could run down the battery?
Thanks a lot.. I couldnt wait till i got home to post this to get an idea.. |
Dunno if this is related, but the fan stays on in my X3 after some very spirited driving.
Seems like your wife was having more fun then you thought :). It is my understanding that the fan stays on after the ignition has been switched off to help dissipate excess heat. |
It's normal and should NOT affect the battery life if it runs less than 5 minutes. My Honda Accord did it and had that thing for 10 years without a single battery problem. And now, the X does the same thing.

Yea, especially after "spirited driving" it will run for a couple of minutes. I guess your wife is having fun too, xx3 ?!
