Can't get homelink to work

Bought a CPO 03 X5 and followed the instructions in the "Quick Guide" to clear the previous owners code and re-program it to open my garage. No go! Any trick that I might be missing? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Check to make sure your garage door opener is HOMELINK equiped.

If it is then just do this. Get you ladder in place next to the Head unit. Inside your X with the ignition on hold one of the garage door openers on your BMW till it flashes. leave everthing as it is and rush to the head unit. Press the program button till it flashes. That's it. Just did it a week ago with the 530i.

Still no go. But I appreciate the help. Have to take her into the shop for paint touch up next week so I'll have them take a look to mke sure there's nothing wrong with the unit in the truck.

Any lights on it when you press the buttons? If not could be the fuse.

I had similiar problems with my 03 X5. I have Craftsman Door openers, here is how I did it. Cleared the programming by holding button 1 & 3. Then pressed and held button 1 and at the same time press the appropriate button on the original remote. when the light on the homelink flashed fast, I released and then went to the garage door unit and pressed the program button, returned to the car and pressed button #1 of the homelink and.....the door opened. Did the same with the other door. Seems as if you need to program the HomeLink with the original remote first and then you send the signal from the Homelink to the actual opener. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my garage door openor.
My problem was that my opener has rolloing codes. Everytime you open the garage door the code changes. But only the remoteknows the new code. Its to keep thieves from stealing your code when you open your door and coming back later to steal your car. In order for me to hook it up to home link i had to disable this feature on my door opener but decided against it. Since some one has already tried to break in to my garage in the past.
