Kewl - you hit the nail on the head - great handling improvement without lowering or affecting ride quality. It was actually YOUR story that cemented my decision - along with Hayaku's great write-up as well, of course. It's only been a couple of days now, but the more I drive with these plates installed, the more I can appreciate what they do. They actually make normal cornering more "comfortable" and aggressive cornering more fun. I'm also interested in learning more about sway bars but I haven't heard of anyone installing them yet. As I mentioned in a much older post, I had aftermarket sway bars installed on a couple of other vehicles - '84 Supra & '99 2 door Tahoe. They also made a significant difference on both vehicles without really compromising ride quality, but the bars on the Tahoe didn't hold up very well - bent mounts and got some "clicking" in certain situations. I really don't want this result for my X. I put up with in the Tahoe as it didn't happen all that often, but that's unacceptable in an X5. I'm also not sure about the hard poly-urethane bushings that are typically used with aftermarket sway bars either. Once they start wearing I feel they'll become very sloppy. Anyhow, a bit off topic here w/the sway bar talk. Regarding obiparis' tire wear concerns, I agree with DinanX5 - they'll probably wear more evenly with somewhat aggressive cornering. Having said that, I suspect that while I may get more even wear this way, they'll probably wear faster too - but at least it'll be even and more fun! As for the 4.8 - I believe Imola is correct - I haven't seen camber plates for a front air suspension X5 yet. The other X's that have front air are in the same boat. Finally, I was a bit worried that the plates would make the vehicle a bit "squirrelly" on the highway - not at all. In fact, it may be my imagination but it seems to be even a bit more stable at speed and lane changing feels a bit better as well. I like these "invisible" mods that do wonderful things!

X5Jay and DinanX5>

I see you guys have 04, and 05 X5 4.4i, but from dinan website,
it says those camber plates are available for 00 - 03 models (Not applicable for vehicles equipped with air-suspension system.)

did I miss something or dinan release it recently?
I'd love to get this mod too!!

Good quesion... Hayaku & I pm'd about this before I did my install. I wanted to get RE plates based on Adam's recommendation and because they were about $80 ($169) less expensive than Dinan's, but when the guys at BPG called RE about them, RE told them that theirs would not fit an '04. Now Adam did some investigating and discovered that the '04 strut hat part number is the same for all years, so he didn't see a reason as to why they wouldn't fit. I relayed that info back to BPG and they agreed to talk with RE again. Same result - RE said they won't fit. However, Dinan says theirs will fit. Go figure. So..., given that Dinan's got a discount sale going on until the end of the month and I can get their plates for about $50 off, I figure "what the hell - for the $30 difference I'm done with my "researching" and ready to get on with it, so I went for the Dinans. Getting back to your question, I suspect the Dinan plates listed on their web site for up to '03 are the same ones installed in my X, and I also suspect the RE plates would also fit. Again, for the $30 difference it wasn't worth it to me to pursue it any more. However, I can't be 100% sure the parts are the same because the part number is not on my receipt. I can certainly call BPG and find out if you're interested. Bit of a long winded answer, eh?

You're absolutely correct. Depending on who you talk to at either Dinan or RE, you're likely to get someone who's confused about '04+ X5s... they seem to think they ALL have air front suspension. (I've cleared this up with a couple different Dinan reps and suggested they clarify their web site info, but they haven't) Anyway, either camber plates will fit any X5 w/o air front suspension, but neither will fit an X5 with air front suspension - including the 4.8.

Thank you very much for the reply X5Jay and DinanX5!!

one last question, so how can I find out if I have front air suspension or not?
I know I have rear air suspension system tho.

oh and also, is it possible to install the camber plates with lowered X5?

Thank you guys!

If you have the adjustable ride height option then you have front air suspension. And yes, I believe the camber plates will work just fine with a lowered X - in fact, I assume it will increase the positive handling effect even more dramatically!

EDIT: BTW - if your X is already lowered, it's a pretty sure bet that you don't have front air suspension!
