And they know better than to leave the A/C on when they're going for a run:thumbup:

That's really bad for a car, especially a BMW (I learned this the hard way - 2006 E90 330i ended up having a transmission, dsc, and brake system failure after 3 launches like that)

yeah, i would THINK that's really bad the car ... geeeeez ... i mean ok ok i sorta tried it twice i think but it just SEEMED SO PAINFUL to the poor car lol .........

drag racing aint the smartest choice of action to be using a bmw and much less choosing to do so with auto-tranny...

auto trannies are better for drag racing but it has to be built for it or its toast

not auto-trannies used in street cars..

top fuel dragsters use a torque converter yes, but their trannies are not what you consider a auto tranny.. it DOES NOT shift automatically.

for the record, i never "drag race" per se.

but if i'm at a stop-light enforced, totally straight/flat freeway on ramp with no traffic ahead of me, you can bet i'll use that as an opportunity to see how quick i can accelerate.

have i ever punched it alongside another car on the freeway if only for a quick spurt? or from a rolling start up to freeway speeds, if only for a moment or two?

sure ... who with even a relatively high performance car hasn't? :)

but for those of you who live in the West LA area, i'm sure you know what i'm talking about when I say how fun it is to coax a Ferrari into screaming up against its rev limiter once in a while on Wilshire. Who seriously *ALWAYS* drives under 50 mph on Wilshire?!

or how about those few times, at 2 in the morning on a weeknight, when there's no traffic of any sort, not even cops, when you just feel like finding that perfect line through a few bends on Sunset Blvd ... and there just happens to be a Porsche along for the ride too :)

not saying this is something i or any else should or ever does do regularly, but to categorically deny *EVER* *EVER* having some fun with the car is highly doubtful.

in my younger stupider days (not saying that i'm any wiser now) did speed and did stupid things on the streets.

now, i NEVER break the speed limit on the streets. not at 3 am, not when its visibly deserted, not when others try to coax me into it... public streets are shared by everyone.. this includes drivers of almost no skill nor awareness to those walking their dog across the street. one spill of coolant, oil, debris, etc will cause you to wipe out and take someone else's life out... for that i make sure i don't participant in any of that... my family is out there on those same streets.

i save that for the track. if you have a need for speed, take it to the track. plenty of them around. if you want to rev up or show off, take it to the track... wanna see what your mods or skills can do? yep you guessed it, take it to the track.. if they want to race me, i'll gladly take them on at a sanctioned racing event and embarass them there.
