Aluminum Running Boards

I didn’t want to hijack the other tread, but I have been kicking this around. I like the brushed aluminum look, but I am not really pressed about the utility. The reason I have not bought the OEM running boards is I think they stick out to far. JMO, if anyone has bought the after market kit by Bavarian Motorworks, are you happy with the overall quality of the product and the look.

Try the ones at bimmian.com Those are superhot. I just got them and plan to install them this weekend. IMO, they look even better than the OEM ones. They have that machined finish.

All the best

Those look cheap and have no use since they are mounted on the existing plastic sideboards. OEM running boards look much much better and real than those aftermarket products. I installed the OEM on my X and have been happier ever since. Check out my before and after pics.

I am not worried about the utility. My 4 year old can get in and out of the truck on his own. Its the look I am after. I think the OEM boards are a little too dry for my taste. JMO though (duck). You kan't honestly say you use the OEM boards for real. Kome on! Its ok to say it, some of us are purest. It's kool, dare to be different that's why it's kalled a modification. Please post those pics once you get them installed.

i use the OEM boards to wash the top of the X. Because its wider, I'm able to get solid footing.

That and also securing something strapped to the rack.

Don't you guys know NEVER to say you actually step on your running boards before giving X5Jay a paper bag to breathe into. He's hyperventilating again.

Breathe Jay, breathe. That's it. It's OK now..
