I got mine from BMW of Macon. They will accept a return as long as it's not been used and is packaged in the original boxes.

Don't buy the new regulator, fix it with plastic ties. I did it and works great. And still working after a year.

well i bought it, not really sure how you would fix it with plastic ties when the wire on mine was all wrapped around the window motor gear. and the plastic piece that is attached to the bottom of the window was broken also. well for around 80 bucks and 2 hours of my time it saved me at from what the dealer told the wife (500) ouch that hurt to hear.

anway i did and it works.

So what you are saying is that it might not be a matter of the regulator going bad, but that it is not mounted properly and the mechanism is binding??

maronha 06-27-2006 11:24 AM

no i think what happen is that the guide wire broke off and that caused it to not work.

not sure if i answeredyour question, but i am not going to take the door panel of and just use ties, i do it the right way the first time. i don't just want to get another year out of the window.

There are plastics around the metal cord that that breaks off easily. The replacement realy just replaces those crappy plastics. If you use ties, it works very well. Check out e46fanatics.com board and you will see picture of the fix. Maronha don't know jack about the ties. Even if you buy new regulator, the plastic will break again after number of uses. Plastic ties does a better job. As I stated, the plastic ties works for me so far and hasn't broke off. It's probably out last the plastic pieces that comes with the regulator.

tcn2K maybe you should have posted those picture on x5 world then maybe i would have understood what you were talking about when you said to use ties. Its not that maronha knows jack about plastic ties its just maronha had never seen what you were talking about after doing a search on this site. My search never retuned a how to on plastic ties TO REPAIR A REGULATOR. maye you should take your fix to BMW corp. maybe they will instal the ties at the factory or atleast make it an option.

Look next time one breaks i will be sure to use plasic ties OK!

If Any1 Needs ... I Have A Front Passenger Side Regulator...( Bought It Only To Find Out The Regulator Was Fine But Motor Was Shot)...

eubanksae 07-18-2006 04:51 PM

So I called BMW of Macon, got transfered to parts, and asked for Kevin, but they said he no longer works there. Are there any other BMW dealers that would be recommended to get the window regulators from? My local dealer wants about $150 each.

My drivers window makes a loud pop when it gets to the top, and the passenger got stuck open. I was able to work it closed, but I guess I've got to replace both regulators.

Thanks,
Andy E.
