Bubble on the Dash

So when I got my X5 a few weeks ago, I bought it with a bubble on the dash. The bubble is on top of the dash on the passenger's side. It’s very weird; I have never seen anything like this. The guy that I bought it from said that it’s been there pretty much the whole time. I’m not even sure it’s from sun damage. Anyway the bubble, you can barely see it, although it is about 3/4" around. It looks like a pimple. I wish I had a syringe filled with glue so I could get it through and push the sucker down, but I don’t. Has anyone ever heard of this or how to fix it?

My 2002 4.4i had one and it was replaced under warranty by the dealer.

maybe your X5 is going thru puperty....and the pimple will go away on it own!

I wouldn't "inject" it...would only make it worse.....I tried stuff like that before and always screwed it up!

Maybe there is a way reach it from under the dash? And maybe it is a BMW issue and they will fix it for free.....which I doubt!

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I had the same problem on my 2002 that appeared 6 mo. after I bought it. The bubble appeared on the rectangular air bag cover on the passenger side. What is happening is that the air bag cover "skin" is delaminating. The only fix is to replace it. It's covered under warranty, assuming you are lucky enough to still be covered.

I see that your from San Jose. See John Bascom at Bascom upholstery (408-727-2292) if your not under warranty. If it can be fixed, John can do it. Good luck
