The claimed power gain is insignificant in a vehicle weighing this much. The K&N filter lets more air (and dirt) into the engine...so you decide whether it's worth the risk for the negligible gain in power.

DON'T DO IT. READ THESE -

:tsk: :tsk: :tsk: :tsk:

Read my previous posts on the nightmare of fitting a K&N filter to a 3.0d X5. The BMW techs said that the oil on the filter can actually damage one of the sensors in the engine - which costs a small fortune to replace.

I kept the filter for 1 day, noticed no difference in power. After reading various articles and posts on the subject I decided to go back to the dealer and have the OEM filter put in.

A much better option. After all, if BMW thought that there was any benefit of the K&N filter, they would re-design the OEM one to match it!!
