My New X-terra!

Just kidding.
After failure of my SpaceCadet Yakima top, Yakima had me drive to a local dealer and had me pick out a replacement *Free of charge*; I elected to forgo the hardtops and went with a rack as I am not confident in the latching system's ability to hold at speed. I did not select another model of cargotop also because they were all longer and would interfere with hatch opening. Worked better/more flexible. Looks imposing. Minimal noise. Photos attached: |
My friend has the same one; but I've never seen him use it...

Glad to hear Yakima did the right thing

lol it was $100 more. They are also replacing the damaged diploma.
Great customer service, btw! |

Looks sharp

Rack with bungy cord will work better. Good choice.

What exactly failed with the SpaceCadet hard top? I would assumed that the hard top would be more aerodynamic than that cargo top rack? Plus, the hard top should keep everything clean in inclement weather as well.

That's some great customer service and the kind of stuff that people remember when choosing between Yakima and Thule. I'm sold and if I ever buy a rack it'll be a Yakima.
Seeing your X5 loaded up like that is still funny, especially knowing that amidst all that stuff, you made sure you had Balsmic vinegar. |
