My New X-terra!

Just kidding.

After failure of my SpaceCadet Yakima top, Yakima had me drive to a local dealer and had me pick out a replacement *Free of charge*; I elected to forgo the hardtops and went with a rack as I am not confident in the latching system's ability to hold at speed.

I did not select another model of cargotop also because they were all longer and would interfere with hatch opening.

Worked better/more flexible. Looks imposing. Minimal noise.

My friend has the same one; but I've never seen him use it...

Rack with bungy cord will work better. Good choice.

What exactly failed with the SpaceCadet hard top? I would assumed that the hard top would be more aerodynamic than that cargo top rack? Plus, the hard top should keep everything clean in inclement weather as well.

Yeah, unless the lock fails and your undies and other possessions are spread all across the highway!

Hmmm...I must have missed that thread in the Lounge. That's a nightmare and very hazardous to others having the cover blast open like that on the freeway. I hate to say it, but a lot of the Yakima stuffs seem pretty simplistic in design to me. Even those "feet" on some of their rack systems doesn't wrap all the way around the roof rail, which scare the heck out of me just looking at it.
