Sunglass holder

My 03 4.6 has a constant rattle in the sunglass holder by the rearview mirror.Rather then taking the whole thing apart do you guys have any other ideas to stop the rattle? Its specifally in that box that holds the glasses

There's nothing much in that cluster other than the interior light, switches for homelink, Roadside, Moonroof, and the Mic. The only thing that I can think of is that some of the wires connecting those switches might not be wrapped properly and is the cause of your rattle? :dunno:

You can try removing the homelink module and reach in there to fiddle around to see if it might solve your problem.

still under warranty? is this rattle constant or
only when u have sunglasses in it?

woodranch 06-15-2006 12:31 PM

It is not a constant rattle. It comes and goes and I do not have sunglasses in it.

are u still under warranty?
i haven't noticed that rattle in my '03.

woodranch 06-15-2006 01:00 PM

Yes i am still under warranty but the service tech says he has to pull the whole thing apart.a couple hours work. Then we open pandoras box

I'm not sure I would let those tech pull the whole thing apart. More often than not, they'll do more damage than solved. If it's just minor rattles, just try to find it yourself or try to live with it.

A sunglass holder?

dkl 06-15-2006 01:12 PM

yes, you guys with the panoramic roof will have to do without one :)

woodranch - i thought i had the same rattle but it turns out my rattle is coming from the upholstered sunroof panel when it is opened...just a thought that u might want to test it out and see if yours is the same...rattle origins can be deceiving sometimes
