I don't think it has the premium package either since your window trim is black. In 2002 the Sport package cost was $2,100, and the Premium package was $3,900, and the Navigation was $1,800. That's $7,800 in upgrades right there that it doesn't have.

The base price in 2002 was $38,900.00 before any wheeling or dealing. Looks like maybe the only two options you got were the Rear Climate package for $600, and the Cold Weather Package.

Now you see why I said that I think it's a little over priced? That would be like a 75% residual, or only 25% depreciation.

Yeah the asking price is a little high, but it does have low miles and it is from a dealer. I chose to get mine from a private party. You may be able to find a another one for the same price and mileage with more features if you keep looking. The X5 is definately the way to go. Once you get a BMW that was taken care of and in good condition, you will not go back! You will realize and appreciate the quality, comfort and engineering of BMW over Ford or any other american or japanese made car. And they last longer!

I must say out of every car I have owned or been inside of the BMW is pretty amazing compared to all of them. The only other car that I liked the interior of was the Toureg (all options).

When I first drove the X5 I had to make sure I wasn't going 80 when I wanted to be doing 40. The car is so smooth and doesn't drive like an SUV.

Love it.

The only thing that i'm stressing out over is the cost of repairs. We will be extended to the breaking point if we go for it and just terrified that something will go wrong. Even though it's covered by warranty since it's CPo, but it's still very stressful. This will be the first BMW I have had the luxury of sitting in and driving. I just keep thinking that it's out of my league even though it truely is something I can afford.

I have been doing a lot of digging and I see people on both sides, some that spend thousands in repairs and then others that have had no problems. It's the same with any car out there, but like I said it's all about the cost of the repairs.

Repairs can get costly, but the enjoyment of the drive will justify them to a degree. Once you have owned the X for a lil while, you'll realize that the way you treat it, is the way it will perform for you. There are many members on this board...included myself, that are on their 3rd, 4th, even 5th BMW and that didn't happen because there weren't any other choices out there. I might be stepping outside the line, but I would venture to say that we all have other responsibilities besides servicing a vehicle. I say that to say this...don't worry about the maintenance cost. Get a X or another BMW and enjoy it. You'll never know until you X-perience one for yourself. I hope that helps you a little with you decision. Good Luck:thumbup: .......Phil

I paid $2,500 for a 36,000 extended warranty plan.

Without it I would be paranoid.

I got my car with around 88,000 miles on it.

Well, unfortunate as it is the X5 that I have been looking at is now sold. Guess it wasn't meant to be for us. I'm going to keep my eye open for another one. They have a 2001 with 63,000 for $24,995 but that seems high to me since the other was a 2002 with 29,000 for $29,000.

That is high, and the 2001 had more issues than the 2002. 2001 was the first year with the 3.0 engine.

It has to many miles. I have been digging and found numerous 2002 and 2003 around 40,000 to 50,000 miles for around $26,000. We are going to take our time looking and if we see something then we'll pounce. The wife was dissappointed that the other one sold, she's starting to get more excided with the idea of getting one. She really doesn't want to look at anything else so I'll be searching through the summer looking for one.

DON'T BUY THAT CAR!
go on CArs.com and look around, your so called friend at the dealership is NOT your friend. Believe you me
