off roading

i read one of the articles on the first page about DSC and it said something about BMW saying a certain reaction was for off roading. Does this mean the dealership was full of it when they said offroading would void the warranty?

your dealership is full of it, I've never heard of anything about offroading voiding warranty. Now if you screw up your car doing it that's another story, but I've been offroading many times in mine with no problem. I tell my dealer all about it and they love it!

well the thing is, i went off roading and dirt and lil rocks got into the sunroof tracks and the window wells. now i have a sunroof the squeaks when it opens.

Offroading also means cleaning it afterwards - If you want to offroad, get a jeep you can beat up - with 22yrs of Ford Bronco experience, in my opinion the X5 is a LIMITED offroader - meaning keep it to unpaved roads - not enuf clearance, no winch, and too Dam* expensive to go Bajaing in - If you really gave it a workout, you may want to have the dealer check of you knocked anything loose or bent something

i dented the brush guard up. thats it.

i cleaned the car, but this is way back inside the roof of the car where this crap is. i cant get to it. rocks and stuff shouldnt be able to get back there anyways!

If you opened the roof before washing , it could (and did). Or if the roof was open when you were out playing in the dirt. I wish I could come up with a way to fix it (short of a complete dismantle) The more you use it, may compromise the seal and mechanism, resulting in leak or jamming. The one drawback of German engineering, is it has to be kept clean. Bummer!

Which is why both of mine do NOT have sunroofs.

it was closed until after i washed it. and it doesnt explain the water and dirt in the window wells either.

You have more guts than i. I would never do any serious off road stuff. One look at the suspension of the BMW compared to the average Ford or Chevrolet truck changed my mind. But i hope your get stuff repaired. Have fun.
