Project AFE CAI completed.

Hey guys, I've just got bitten by the mod bug again so I decided to try the AFE CAI from Evosport. Total cost is $360 incl. shipping for the 4.4i ($250 plus shipping for the 3.0). The package arrived in only a few days so overall service is very good. Installation is very simple and it took me roughly 45 minutes to complete.

First impression is the whole kit looks quite good with the blue filter. Under hard acceleration there's definitely a deep growl coming from under the hood. Is there any HP gain? Probably not but it sure does sound oh so nice.

Edit: I apologize guys. Pictures aren't showing for some reason. Lemans is correct: time to look for other picture hosting site. Hopefully I can rectify the situation and will post some pics soon.

Kriss, I've got an ISP with a quirky server. Give me sometimes and the pics will be up and running again. Sorry!

Heh, not a mod I would do, but sounds like you are happy

I thought the AFE intakes came with an aluminum cover or is that only for the E46 versions? That would explain the difference in price.

Sounds good but I wish we could see the pictures. :(

The AFE intake for the X5 uses the hood as the cover, right? I wonder how good the seal is compared to the using an actual cover like the Dinan intake.

Same here...I do not see pics. I think BreytonX5 needs new ISP, its happening more and more.

does this intake work with 2005 4.4i X5 due to the new valvetrontic engine

Sounds great Phong. Can't wait to get it.

:wow: EDITED: The package arrived late Friday afternoon, but went to the wrong suite. Finally, one of our staff figured it out and left on my desk over the weekend.

Mea culpa re: Evosport. They did come through (abeit 1 day later than they promised), but it did arrive.

I'll take pics and install it sometime this week.

Anyhow, here is a picture of the X5 3.0i AFE intake from their website.
