I dont want to be mean. I know you love your car just as much as I love mine.

However, I think the exhaust sticking out that far looks bad. Sorry bro, but your ride is still kickass.

Its hard to tell if the exhaust is sticking out more than normal on your X5 by just a picture. i would have to see it in person. But i have the dinan exhaust on my X5 and if the dealer installed it and followed the instructions properly im sure it fits right. Although you can adjust how far you want them to stick out. If you want them farther in just ask them to do so and they can. If they say no its bull shit. It slips right on and you can push up as much as you want.

The sound from the outside of the vehichle is incredible and in no way sounds like an american v8 with flow masters. Just have a buddy floor it down the street while you stand behind it. If you really dont like the dinan tips cut them off and weld on some 4.8 tips i am thinking about it.

However, the interior noise is a little more than I want to hear shen driving around town. I haven't heard it from a distance outside the vehicle, but I am concerened it might sound like a Chevy pick-up w/ a Flowmaster and I don't want my BMW sounding like that. The jury is still out on this mod.

I also have concerns about how far the exhaust pipes stick out. They seem too long. Can anyone else with this exhaust confirm that mine is installed correctly?

Just had mine installed and felt the same as you. I too felt it was sticking out to far, but it is to the DINAN specs for the car, and was told it is designed like that to have the DINAN logo readable from outside the car at a glance. I have left mine the way they were installed and have seen 2-3 more X5's with the DINAN exhaust looking the same. They did say they could move it in to reveal less of the tips, but i left it as intended. ANyone else have a pciture to compare this too. Ill post mine later tonight or tomorrow morning to compare them too.

I agree, I think they stick out too far. My biggest complaint is for the money you aren't even getting rolled exhaust tips, to me, the stock 4.4L tips look like they have more of a rolled tip to them. To each their own however.

No the Dinan is like all the other exhausts they make for BMW, sharp round tips with a stainless body. Maybe i will have them moved in alittle if that is not to hard to have done, otherwise the sound is great and the feel of driving has been reborn again. anyone else have any pictures of their DINAN exhaust with the rear tips shot? I have searced and found only a few with pictures,, thanks;)

 IMO they look cool as is. If you do pull em in I'd say no more than 1/2 to 3/4". The Dinan exhaust system & tips are obviously mods and to that they don't necessarily have to comply with the projection of stock 4.4 tips. Plus you paid serious coin for the setup, so show the quality product name you used.

Oh yeah, one other thing I'd do is to spray the inside of the tips with heat resistant flat black (like bbq spray paint). Do a search for 'Michelles tips' and look at the difference of before n after with the inside painted. If you don't the insides are gonna get that dirty rusty look in time and would spoil what you got. Just my 2 cents.

my wife is telling me to leave them and that she likes it this way, so they are staying as is for now. I will take your advice and look into the Heat resisitant paint idea. Time to search..thanks again for your input!:thumbup:

they look fine. that is how mine are. its so u can tell its a dinan exhaust. make sure the back covr is pulled to the tailgate and it will be quieter. I have the dinan mufflers and X pipe no res and i love the way it sounds. if your worried about it sounding like a chevy then you shouldn't have gotten a V8. all V8's sound similar
