I don't think Bluetooth was a standard option on the early 05 models 'cause my 4.8is doesn't have it :(

It's probably a hit and miss with the production dates...

Mine definitely has it but I have Samsung A-900 and I waited 20 minutes and it still did not finish downloading the phonebook. Is this normal and will it eventually finish or does this phone just not work well. I think I only have 3 options for bluetooth phones from Sprint; Treo, another one and this one. This technology seems like a pain in the a!! so far, is it just me or are you guys feeling like this too?

I have a 2003 M3 that I assume is not compatible and that seems to cost around $1000 or so.(Crazy price to talk hands free in my opinion) I guess the question does all a bluetooth compatible vehicle need is just the phone hooked up to it? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Ah nice pair of cars, I have same. :)

Your 2005 4.8is comes standard w/ Bluetooth and BMW Assist. If you do not know your BT PassKey code (delaer probably didn't give you the card), you can find out by going to the back and pulling the left panel out, then pull the plastic panel on the bottom out. The BT module should be there with a sticker that shows the PK Code. You'll need this code to pair your phone.

On your 2003 M3, you can buy the BT retrofit kit from EAS http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=299 for $750. Took me 30 minutes to install on my M3. Mostly plug and play.

To be 100% sure, look at the following manual and specifically page 13.

If you have the small black deck of card like antenna in/around your left-rear compartment, you should have Bluetooth!

If you have navigation, the menu should also show TELEPHONE. ;)

2004 X5 4.8is - Bluetooth?

I took the back of my truck apart today and I have the Bluetooth antenna and Motorola Bluetooth module part no. 84-11-6952218-01 hooked up in the back. Bluetooth, however, doesn't work. I have tried everything I could find on pairing a phone etc., I just don't believe the functionality has been enabled. The module has a passkey and such so obvioulsy that's what it is... Any ideas???

Thanks,

Joe

You are supposed to turn your key to position 1 then on your phone you have to go into the BlueTooth feature and search for a new BT device. Once it syncs up it will ask you for the PK Code. Once pairing is completed you have to turn the key to off then on again.

Yeah, I tried that. No luck. Why would BMW put all that crap in your vehicle and not activate it?

Can't find Pass Key

I purchased a 2005 X5 4.8 and it had no manuals. How can I find the pass key. Exactly where is the antenna in the rear?
