For regular maintenance without going overboard a clay and cleanerwax is perfect... A Quick Detailer after washes really helps too. Other than that, I would try taping off trim next time as to not stain them white...

Actually it'd clay, polish, polish, prep, polish, prep, prep and then wax ;)

I clay about 2X a year max, but claying usually does induce marring, especially on a dark car ! Looks good in the pic though .

That is a good tip. I personally like to wash, clay, prepsol, polish, seal, wax... And thats just on the paint. Not including trim, windows, wheels, wells, ect..

But I think for someone who wants to just be better than the neighborhood car wash, a clay and cleaner wax is good enough. Hell thats why soo many people like Zaino. Just a quick dawn wash, clay, and coats of sealant...

And pray that it doesn't rain anytime soon.

What is that mean prep prep prep????

Joyriide1113 07-25-2006 03:36 PM

He's just trying to say that preparing the paint/finish for wax is more importnant than the wax itself. Sure some waxes make the paint look a lot better, but imagine how they would look if you prep the surface the best you could.

The way you clayed the vehicle prior to waxing is considered prep. Imagine if you used clay, paintcleaner/polihs, and then put wax. Your results would be much better...Not that they look bad now...
