With looking at the tires, I would concur with MD. Maybe the chain of events is something like this. Something hits your sidewalls, causing a slow leak. Your tire low pressure light comes on. Check it, everything looks fine. Drive on it for a while and the sidewall gives out.
I am very curious on what caused the dent underneath the tailpipes though. That looks kind of odd. I would suggest also talking to the dealer and claiming a defective tire and see how far it gets. Good luck and let us know how it goes. |
Sorry to read about your misfortune, glad no harm came to you.

This reminds me of incident that happened to me some years ago in a Mitsubishi 4WD.
I had just received the car back from service, which included a wheel balance. I was driving a few days later at highway speeds of 110 kph (68mph) when I heard a loud bang on the side of the car (a noise similar to someone kicking the side of the car). After stopping I discovered what had happened. The wheel balance lead on the outside of the wheel had dislodged, firing into the road where it bounced back up with bits of broken road surface. The lead and bitumen debris then slammed into the side of the car on its way upward causing a surprising amount of damage in the plastic side mouldings of the car. :tsk: It was an incredible force. Do you think a loose piece of lead may have been responsible for your tyre and body damage?? |

but if one Toyo exploded... I would be looking for anything else but a toyo ! |
Wow, Toyo would be getting a nice call from me telling them about the body work and rim they are replacing.

Makes me glad I just ordered a new set of mitchelin's for my X.. I feel safe with the old faithfuls.
I'm glad nobody was hurt, body work can easily be repaired. |

I would say that the object hit the tire and continued on to the rear hitting the rear spoiler and dislodging the trailer hitch cover and taking out the pdc sensor. A blow out of a tire would not be able to take out the sensor and cause that kind of damage at 32lbs per sq inch. Some sharp thing took out the tire, rear spolier, sensor..... |
