BMW part #s are always 11 digits as shown on RealOEM.com. The first 2 digits the Main group. The next 2 represent the sub-group and then the part #. But in your case even the last do not match. :dunno: Check with dealer.

And the raised lettering on my passenger side plastic shroud match yours

As a side note, I looked at the window sticker from X5 and it says the following:

"Xenon Headlights: $ 800.00
Adaptive Light Control Included"

Logically I would think they would install the adaptive ones by default as they seem to be standard these days and are probably more plentiful.

Hope that helps you out.

Thanks a lot! I'll take a look in the morning, I'm out on Long Island at my parents and didn't drive the X, so i'll check when i get home.

Much appreciated....

It really is incredible how helpful everyone on here is...it just blows that "other" site out of the water...

Thanks again everyone... if anyone is interested I'll post an update as the saga continues!

The ring around the front of the lens should read "BMW Dynamic Xenon"

Ditto that. I just looked at mine with a flashlight and sure enough it says that. Definitley the easy way to check. Good call!

As a side note, while i was looking under the hood for the part numbers, i noticed that the hood realease cable is frayed (definitely damaged by whomever stole my lights), it was the first thing i noticed when i stuck my head under the hood, how BMW missed it when they were replacing the lights is unimagineable... and the saga continues....

Wish you well with you Saga

Thanks for all of the replies, the numbers from the white label match up with bimmerfan's and the lights are stamped BMW Dynamic Xenon so I guess they put in the right lights, which then means that either they installed them incorrectly or they're malfunctioning...

Thanks again to everyone for the info, much appreciated...

Saga update:

dropped my x off at the dealer this morning so that they could fix all the stuff that they missed... I actually got a BMW loaner, a silver X3. At first I thought it was kind of cheesy inside compared to an X5, but after driving it around today and putting the tranny in sport mode, that 6 banger has some balls... and it's got almost all of the bells/whistles in the interior as an X5, just scaled down. The seats aren't as comfortable, the steering wheel is thinner and the gauge cluster is pretty sparce, but i have to say, after I got used to driving it, it's a pretty good car...

more tomorrow when i pick up my X5... same bat time same bat channel/site :)

The saga is over....

Picked up my X5 today... here's what they had to do to get it back to 100% functionality:

- re-aim and re-focus lights
- enable adaptive function in computer
- re-disable DRL's so that the car has dual angel eyes when the parking lights are on. (so i don't have ANY drl's, which is how it was before the lights were stolen, I have no clue why they would have changed them back to default)
- replace driver mirror motor
- replace sunroof switch
- reinstall molding on driver door/window junction

All of these things should have been done the first time as part of the process of repairing the vandalism.

I'm just glad it's all over with.

Have a good weekend.

gresch - glad to hear that the saga has concluded and all is back to the way it should be. Keeping my fingers crossed that the headlight theives leave you alone from this point on.

Thanks... from now on I walk to the train station and try not to worry about the car everytime i leave it in a parking lot :(

Have a good weekend everyone, and thanks for all the empathy over the last few weeks as this mess played out.

By the way, the dual angel eyes and no DRL's look friggin sweet :)
