Sudesh/icon more re baking below
http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/l...0-2002-x5.html unsure re the texture I had assumed the angel kit required removal of textured bits ( around the headlamps as opposed to earlier refrreed textured bits around the corners that originally from part of the amber bits). Perhaps someone can elaborate. |
Thanks AW8. I found on the front page of the forum that all the textured inserts of the head light can be removed. I'm just wondering if it can be done on an 03 model as I also read that it's quite difficult due to a better glue that was used on 03 headlights.

Ok no prob's,
Thanks for sharing other info re glue I was unaware of. Do bear in mind some refer to 03 cars when refering to facelift ones. Despite the facelift cars rolling out from 9/03 they are also reffered to as 2004 model when facelifted. If you have a link re the glue strength variation in relation to dates then post it up when you get a chance so we can hopefully clarify this. |
Oh Ok! Well my X5 is a 4.6is so pre facelift but its 09-2003 model so not sure about the whole glue thing as I was going to give it ago earlier today until I read this:
Contributed by: X5World If you are looking to do the Angel Eyes yourself, see Angel Eyes Tips and Tricks To have them done for you there are several vendors that offer solutions to adding Angel Eyes to your 2000 through 2003 BMW X5. Starting with the facelifted 2004 X5's, Angel Eyes became standard equipment. Note that if you have a 2003, for that particular model year BMW started using new sealants that are nearly impossible to crack. So if you want AE's on these model years, first consult with one of the vendors listed below to see what this means to the overall cost of the project. After reading about the glue change on the 03 cars I was kinda unsure as what to do. So I have emailed one of the vendors listed on the front page that does the conversion for some help. Just waiting for a reply..... |
I used a heat gun as I really did not like the idea of baking my headlights and then trying to work with them. Using a heat gun I methodically worked around the light and slowly opened it up.
My issue is with the amber indicators. I have a 2003 X5 and it comes with the 3757AK bulbs and not the more available bayonet type. I cannot seem to track down a clear replacement. LED or otherwise. Has anyone managed to find one? |
