Here it is again all pics should be working!
Pic of view from monitor. Note the 4x4 behind was about 12 feet behind me so gives an indication of the camera's ability from the tow hitch area. The view is in color but hard to tell in the pic for some reason. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...5/DSC00493.jpg This is a pic from the rear to show you how it looks fitted. If you didnt know any better you would think it was a park sensor! http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...5/DSC00497.jpg Close up view. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j7...5/DSC00509.jpg |
Thanks for that is deff a option that I would have dismissed before,as I would have thought that would be to low there.

I think it really depends on the camera and the type of flang that comes with it. On the camera I purchased it came with 2 so you can adjust the install angel to different setting.
|
I think that install looks great - nice work. In your screen pic it looks like the right edge is getting cut off just a bit - what's that? Also, a lot of folks like the edge of the back bumper to be in the picture as well - so you can see exactly how far you are from an object. Any idea how far out of the pic your back bumper is with this set up? I think I might put mine in the same spot (the hitch cover) but up a bit to be exactly in line with the PDC sensors. I know that the cut line is right there, but with a little ingenuity, I hope I can make it work... Can you give us any info on the camera - where you got it and how much?
|
The edge is just a plastic protector that was around the lense. Its removed now so no edge. The bottom spoiler sits 5cm in front of the camera. The main bumper itself sits 13cm in front of the camera but with PDC you wont get that close to an object anyway!
The reason why I put my camera there on the hitch cover was because, The top half faces to the ground then you have a curve. Also the top half does not give much room for drilling with the handle being so far up. Unless you find exactially the right camera with some serious flang attachments, the camera may not sit right but its worth a try!! I may actually buy another hitch cover and have a go at the position myself, although I think the attachments I got wont bring my camera to face upwards or straight ahead for that matter!! I got my camera on ebay. It cost me £31.00- color & also nite vision. |

I also got a camera off Ebay and the the power supply was so badly insulated that created interference with my video module!Took me ages to work out why I was the only one with this problem!I ended up getting a Mitsumi cam, like a lot of guys here. Also, not only do these cameras have awful resolution but the paint was discolors after sun exposure!!!! |
