the bumblebee camera would be the one I recommend for the X5, the bracket can attach with double sided tape under the tailgate lip.

I've had my camera in the Roundel for 3 and a half years now and there is no flaking and no problems with the seal. it merely has to be installed properly initially.
Now, it is true that the viewing angle is more straight back than down towards the bumper. so, if the primary reason for the camera is safety for your kids, then it isn't the best way to do it, as the view starts about 2 feet beyond where the bumper hitch would be. I didn't think about this when i had it installed in the roundel. it's still a good field of vision but not 100%
no flaking or seal problems, at all though.
